As I previously told you, this year I resumed my reading habits. And one of the first books read was Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso.
Among many pragmatical and true thinks she wrote in her book, I keep remembering the following one:
I am surprised by the youth culture. I love knowing everything – what they are wearing, what they are listening to, what apps they are using. Kids are the future. If I wanna stick with the future, I gotta stay close to the game.
If you’re in any business, it is very important to follow these teenagers as they will likely become your business partners or your employees or the community to which you address to. To be honest, I have never given this much though until reading these lines…
…. and until recently listening to a radio show made by high-school students. Radio Guerrilla has included in its autumn program grid a show made entirely by teenagers – around 3 students from one or two high-schools in Bucharest during each show. At first, I did not give too much credit to this show. But one evening, on my way home, I turned on the radio and I said to my self: what a nice program, as they were discussing about time left for reading, what does it mean to read a lot, etc. The guys were very opinionated and natural. Only after around ten minutes I realized that it is the students’ show and I was very impressed how they sounded on the radio and the clear manner in which they shares their opinions.
This evening I also got to listen to their show – they were discussing about the revolt of young people. It seems that they choose cool topics which are very close to them.
In between, they also put music. One of their song was the below – Cold Coffee, Ed Sheeran. It’s from 2011, but I never heard it. And it’s simply wonderful. So I guess it gotta be a teenager from whom I’ve learnt about this song.
I hope you have at least one teenager around, as they can teach us many things…
