I know that the song has a different meaning, but I have transposed it to my new life as a mom and had some “aha” moments:
So what if our baby sleeps in our bed! She easily falls back asleep when she wakes up during the night and there is no need for any of us to get out of bed. She has all the time in world to be independent.
So what if I put my baby to sleep by breastfeeding her! She falls asleep very easy and I still have time to take a shower, tidy-up, watch a movie or talk to her father 😁. And most importantly, we do not make ourselves angry during the process. No worries, her father can also put her to sleep just by rocking her.
So what if the baby does not fall asleep in the stroller! We always have the babycarrier as a back-up.
So what if we did not have a fixed schedule for meals and sleep! The three of us liked to be flexible :).
The examples can continue, but these are the most “questioned” by the people around us. So what? We stand by what we think is right and best for our baby and we as a family!
I consider that it is very important for moms (and dads as well) to be happy and do the things that work best for their baby and themselves.
Kids are very different and I’m sure that they are able to lead their parents so as to fill their needs even when they are not able to express them in words.
